2005 Michigan Defense & Innovation Symposium
Enabling Value-Added Research between Academia, Industry and the Federal Government

Monday, October 24
The first day of the conference is designed to meet the needs of non-profit research organizations, universities, and high tech businesses interested in performing R&D (basic and applied) for the Department of Defense, especially in fields of:
- Energy and Propulsion
- Information Technology and Cybersecurity
- Materials (non-electronic applications)
- MEMS, Nanotechnology and Electronic Materials
- Unmanned Systems and Robotics
Federal research program managers from the Army, Air Force, Navy and other Department of Defense research agencies will provide a program covering:
- Current research and development needs
- How to best work with each agency
Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up for 15-minute one-on-one meetings with these program managers during the afternoon.
Tuesday, October 25
The second day is focused on the needs of high technology businesses interested in performing R&D (basic and applied) for the Department of Defense.
Prime contractors will cover the following topics:
- Contracting with the DoD
- Presentations from Prime DoD Contractors
- Information on Grants for Michigan Technology Companies
- Successful Business Strategy Development
- State and Federal Assistance Opportunities
High tech companies will have the opportunity to sign up for 15-minute one-on-one meetings with the prime contractors during the afternoon session.
