Michigan Technical Education CentersSM

Employers have long recognized that the development of workplace skills is essential for creating and maintaining a competitive advantage. As the pace of change continues to increase, jobs will become increasingly more complex, if not specialized, making training and retraining even more important.

The M-TEC System has been designed to offer a complete solution to your training needs. Although working independently, each center offers the following features:

ON-DEMAND TRAINING

Open entry, open exit training means training can be started any time without waiting and without lengthy commitments. Instruction is self-paced and skill based, allowing trainees to advance when the required competencies are mastered.

UNIQUE LOCATIONS

Each M-TEC is located to serve its customers. In many cases, this means right in a business and industrial park or a research and development park. This unique approach ensures that a business focus is maintained in all areas of its operation.

STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES

All of the M-TECs are housed in new facilities, offering the most advanced and cost-effective training technologies. Every center is designed to provide a quality learning environment with flexibility to allow for self-paced learning.

INDUSTRY STANDARDS

The accent is on providing training based on industry standards. This will reflect current certification and qualification requirements of the respective local industries. Other workforce initiatives can be constructed around individual training needs, whether it is a new piece of plant equipment or even corporate structural changes.

PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERSHIP
A team drawn from the local community guides each M-TEC. This advisory board includes local business leaders, educators, government and organized labor representatives. Its task is to ensure that the M-TEC responds effectively to local needs and maintains a high level of quality.

Michigan's M-TECs have provided service to more than 1,100 employers and 25,000 trainees, totaling over 679,000 training hours, far exceeding their five year goals within the first two years of operation.

M-TECSM and Michigan Technical Education CenterSM are Service Marks of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
