Clinton County

Clinton County is located in the south-central part of the lower peninsula, traversed by I-69, I-96, US-27, and US-127. The county contains 573 square miles and is the 42nd largest in the state. The county seat is St. Johns. Clinton County is largely agricultural with 70 percent of the land in farms. St. Johns is the mint capital of the world. In addition to agriculture, the economy depends on wholesale and retail trade and some manufacturing, particularly wood processing. Recreation activities include hunting, fishing, and boating, among others.
