Ingham County

Ingham County is the heartland of Michigan, a hub of government, culture, and commerce. The county stands as the demographic center of our state - 90 minutes to 90 percent of Michigan's population. It is the crossroads of Michigan via freeways, railroads, and air transportation systems. The imposing State Capitol, the sculptured beauty of Michigan State University, and an energetic and prosperous General Motors industrial base working hand in hand with a bountiful agricultural society form the most stable economy in the state. Though rich in history, Ingham County is a leading force in the auto industry, microbiology research, and scientific development. Warehousing and distribution also contribute significantly to the economy. Consisting of the urban areas of Lansing and East Lansing and rural areas from Webberville to Stockbridge and Leslie, its citizens benefit from excellent health care, recreation via professional and Big Ten sports, and facilities for the Arts.
