Wexford County

Wexford County is located in the northwestern part of the lower peninsula, traversed by US-131, M-115, and M-55. The county contains 566 square miles and is the 51st largest in the state. The county seat is Cadillac. The Manistee National Forest and Pere Marquette State Forest cover much of the county. Less than 10 percent of the county's land is in farms, mostly livestock production. Manufacturing activities include rubber products, vacuum cleaners, boats, wheel systems, concrete blocks, military cargo handling systems, hand trucks, emission control systems, and horns. A wide array of outdoor recreation opportunities are available in the county including golfing, boating, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling.
