Aviation School - Licensing InformationRequired State License(s): A license for an aviation/flight school is required with the Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Division at (517) 335-9283. Valid commercial pilot's and instructor's certificates are required and issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at (734) 487-7222 for East of Lansing, and (616) 954-6657 for West of Lansing and the Upper Peninsula. Lansing Area may need to contact both FAA phone numbers. Further Information: When operating as a flight school facility at a public airport, a commercial operating agreement should be obtained with the airport owner.
