MISITENET (Michigan Site Network)

Thousands of sites throughout Michigan are listed, with more being added each day. Available site information can include site characteristics, street maps, brownfield data, existing structures, and aerial photos.

The Michigan Site Network (MISITENET), a 501(c)3, is an industrial site database through a collaborative effort by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Detroit Edison Economic Development Team, and the Michigan Economic Developers Association. It provides information on individual sites, including characteristics, digitized photographs location maps, aerial photos, detailed topographic maps, brownfield data, and existing structures.

Local economic development offices and real estate brokers enter site information into the network via the Internet. Over 5,000 sites throughout Michigan are currently listed, including land, buildings, brownfield sites, and Michigan Certified Business Parks. More are being added each day.

MISITENET serves to assist consultants and businesses interested in locating facilities in Michigan. A company's needs are determined through analysis of factors such as building size, ceiling height, truck loading facilities, location, utility requirements, and acreage for current needs and for possible future expansion. The site is researched to ensure its fit with the company's requirements, and a presentation package is furnished to the company. The following information can be included as well:

  • Detailed community information, including demographics
  • Up-to-date labor statistics, including availability and wage levels
  • Infrastructure information such as utility costs and transportation services, including highway, rail, airport, and port access
  • Tax structure
  • Industrial property tax abatements
  • Land and construction costs
  • Higher education opportunities to enhance managerial and technical knowledge and expertise
  • Quality of life, including schools, recreational and cultural opportunities, housing prices, and the overall cost of living
Staff are available to assist throughout the site location process.
