A company that utilizes self-insurance, or is a member of a group self-insurance plan, is outside of the WC "open market" and should not use this estimator in attempting to study insurance costs. Assistance in understanding the costs involved in self-insurance is available directly from the Bureau of Workers’ Disability Compensation at the Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services.
